Today I stumbled over an interesting description of a pair of boots from Sergio Rossi. Take a look at what the Neiman Marcus store and the Bergdorf Goodman store has to say about Sergio Rossi’s Chelsea over-the-knee boot:
They use the same description, so I guess it’s something they got from the manufacturer. Still, it’s funny to see that the boots where inspired by menswear. Who knows… perhaps there’s hope. In my opinion they would look great on a man!
Zappos.com was founded in 1999 with the vision that “one day, 30% of all retail transactions in the US will be online. People will buy from the company with the best service and the best selection, and finally: Zappos.com will be that online store”. But have they reached the vision? In my eyes they have!
I do a lot of shopping online, and there are a few things that I look for when ordering:
obviously the only way to measure if the descriptions are accurate is to do a purchase or two. But from my experience they are fairly accurate. I say fairly because they have been off by an inch or two on the shaft height on a couple of boots. That can in fact be a bit annoying when you expect the boot-shaft to reach the knee and instead it goes well below the knee. But other than that, I have no complaints.
Two of the best features they have are the ability to narrow your search, either by style, heel height, price or size. And you can use any combination of those to really get down to a detailed search.
The other good feature are the comments from other customers. You can tell others how you find sizing, looks and comfort, in addition to write a comment. I’ve found this very helpful and according to some size comments I have ordered either up or down a size and found that they fit perfect. So that’s a big thumbs up.
Shipping has been extraordinary. You can track you order, and I don’t think you could get them home any faster even I you drove down yourself to carry them home.
Zappos.com also has different departments for shoes. (Not only women, men and kids). They offer departments for couture, riding, running and outdoor. And as if that wasn’t enough they also has departments for clothing, accessories, housewares and beauty. I’m not going to get into those than saying that they have a very broad line. If you can’t find it in zappos.com, it’s probably not been made yet.
On the downside, they can get even better when it comes to measuring shaft heights. And although they carry a pretty wide selection of boot in size 12 and up, they can still get a better selection. The nicest and most fashionable boots still only go up to a size 10 (or on a few occasions a size 11). There are lots of woman out there with a size 12 or more, so there should absolutely be a great potential for making more money by offering an even larger selection of +12 size boots and other footwear.
So, zappos.com is my very own Never Never Land. A place where I can escape from reality for hours! Take a look for yourself and discover what I mean.

PS: Why don’t zappo.com become a trendsetter in boots that go over the knee for men!? They are certainly big enough to influence the market and the manufacturers.
I thought I would give a brief introduction to Kevin before he starts to appearing as my “male model”.
Kevin is a very dear friend whom I met at a party a few years ago. We got to start talking after he gave me one of the sweetest and nicest compliments I’ve ever received on a pair of boots I was wearing. That obviously got my attention, (hehe)! And as it turned out we both share some common interests our friendship got to grow and develop over the years.
Kevin obviously shares my passion for boots, and he has agreed to act as my male model here on the blog, showing off boots that in our opinion fit both men and women (if worn right). His favorite boots are those that go over the knee or even thigh highs. Heel height is of no importance although I know he has quite a few high ones in his closet. 😉

Every once in a while there comes a boot that simply takes your breath away. These boots from Christian Louboutin, Contente, certainly did so with me. They have to be the closest you can get to a perfect pair of thigh high boots!
They have a perfectly rounded tip. A covered 4″ heel that makes the angle well-balanced, and the heel is not stiletto which makes walking and balancing easy. The long (26″) shaft is perfectly shaped; not too tight around the ankles and not too wide around the thighs which makes them perfect to wear with either jeans or a skirt.
Yes, I do know that these were part of last seasons collection, but that also means that you might be able to get a bargain on them now since spring is coming up.
And for the guys – yes, they are definitely for you too! The only negative thing I could mention is that they are not available in a size 12. And that means they won’t find the way to my feet. Sadly…
Mr. Christian Louboutin – please make your boots available to us women who were blessed with feet larger than a size 10 or 11! 🙂
I’m not really sure why, when or how it happened, but for as long as I can remember – even into early childhood – I have always been fascinated by boots. I remember that my mom gave up on me at a pretty early stage and let me out in a warm summers breeze with guess what… almost nothing but boots on my feet. So the fascination always been there.
Later on the fascination grew to become a passion. And so did the wardrobe. It now houses over a hundred pairs of different styles, height and colors. And I love every pair!
In my opinion a nice looking pair of boots is what dot the i’s. Don’t get me wrong – a nice looking pair of shoes can also make the whole difference. I should know, I have 35 pairs. but if I get to choose, then the choice will definitely be boots.
So what’s so special about this, you may ask? Well… I think what separates me from most people is that I see beyond sexes when it comes to boots. I think a pair of thigh highs, even with a 4″ stiletto, can look great on a man! Just think about it for a minute. What is it about the height of the boot or the height of the heel that is so fascinating to a lot of people? Isn’t it that it enhances the posture and legs, and when done right – makes a statement to the outfit? So why wouldn’t the same apply for a man?!
No – not all men could get away with a look like that, just like not all women can. Maybe it takes a certain body type, style of dressing or movement. I don’t have the right answer to that. But I can see when it’s wrong or just plain right:
